The principle

Anergy network

Anergy, the principle used by STEEN Sustainable Energy to develop its networks, is a well-known and proven solution.

Anergy is the recovery and pooling of so-called “lost” energy (waste heat, waste heat, solar energy, etc.). The energy is distributed via a low-temperature network to produce heating and cooling.

The winner of the Watt d’Or 2020 in the Buildings and Spaces category was a project in Zurich using an anergy network (EPFZ Hönggerberg campus).

The networks developed by STEEN Sustainable Energy stand out from the market thanks to three very distinct characteristics:

  • Monotube (view image)
  • Very low temperature (0° -10°)
  • Without geothermal probes

This collective, 100% renewable solution for producing heat and cooling can replace many individual installations that use fossil fuels. Based on a circular philosophy, such a system also allows each consumer to become a producer of their own energy, making the most of local resources and decentralising energy production.

Added value

Cooling

Compared with traditional district heating systems, STEEN Sustainable Energy stands out by being able to produce cooling while remaining 100% renewable and using only local resources. With global warming, periods of extreme heat are set to increase. Having a cooling system in your home is therefore an undeniable plus.

Competitive cost

Compared to a system using geothermal probes, STEEN Sustainable Energy offers an economically attractive solution. Recent comparisons, carried out by independent consultants, show that the solution can be up to 25% cheaper while having a more ecological CO2 balance.

CO2 balance below 5KG / m2

The CO2 Act would have limited emissions from buildings to 5kg/m2 SRE. Although the revision of the Act was not accepted by the people, the Confederation’s targets for 2050 remain unchanged. STEEN Sustainable Energy’s projects have CO2 balances that are below this value.

Energy efficiency

Heating network

Heating networks are collective solutions for producing and distributing energy, eliminating the need for individual production using fossil fuels. Energy efficiency is thus improved thanks to the possibility of distributing renewable & local primary energy (wood, biomass, geothermal energy, waste heat) over a wider area.

Heat pumps & solar panels

The heat pumps used are controlled by an algorithm developed by STEEN Sustainable Energy. All energy sources are interconnected, so that energy production is tailored to the specific needs of each project. Self-consumption is enhanced by the installation of solar panels, for example.
